Understanding How Kanna’s Certificates for Cannabis Producers and Cultivations Work
Last updated
At the end of the validation process conducted by the community, as described in the previous chapter, producers can generate a seal based on the score obtained. This chapter is dedicated to explaining how this process works.
The Kanna Impact Seal is a certificate generated by the Kanna Protocol, helping cannabis producers gain visibility and promote transparency in their cultivation operations. Additionally, it provides valuable insights that can assist these producers in improving the level of compliance and historical reparation actions achieved by their operations.
Projects are evaluated based on various criteria across each element of the ESG acronym. Upon completion of the process, they may receive one of the following seals, along with an audit report that may contain insights and relevant information for the producer.
This seal can also evolve as new certifications and implementations are introduced into the protocol.
Highlighting the first two seals, information submission and evidence are performed by the producer or an authorized professional for collection. Kanna does not require holders to verify evidence on-site. The entire evaluation process occurs through Kanna's platform and technology.
Our methodology consists of a modular system for evaluating documents and information that prove the quality of the partner’s ESG compliance. The process essentially assesses different criteria distributed across these three categories.
Different modules can be validated to achieve a score based on the information provided by the producer, attesting to the veracity of that item, which can be conducted via smart oracles or by community members.
Below are examples of available modules in each category:
Soil Management
Waste Disposal
Efficient Consumption
Social Programs/Works
Diversity and Inclusion
Human Rights
Regulation
Transparency
Ombudsman
Kanna’s certification process for cannabis producers is a crucial step in ensuring the quality and compliance of partner cultivation operations within the Kanna ecosystem.
This is an essential pathway for producers who wish to establish themselves as reliable and conscientious partners in a rapidly growing sector, where compliance with ESG principles plays an increasingly crucial role.
Process Steps Producers who wish to obtain Kanna certificates can participate in the decentralized Validation process as follows:
Platform Registration The first step is to register the basic project information on the mapped cultivations page.
Audit Request To initiate the process, it is necessary to request the Kanna audit via email at contato@kannacoin.io or through the Kanna community server on Discord.
Information Collection Producers have up to 15 business days to provide the information and documents that prove compliance with the criteria to be evaluated at this stage.
Audit of Submitted Information The audit process of the information begins, with validations carried out by the community and through database and service consultations.
Preparation of the Technical Report During this period, the technical report is prepared and sent to the partner, who reviews the information and indicates which details will be published. It is important to note that the higher the level of transparency, the higher the Governance score.
Seal Publication and Process Review After the audit and review are completed, the seal is published on the partner's page on the Kanna platform, and the seals certified by the process are delivered.
To understand the complete process, access the regulations and terms of use via the link below:
Kanna only displays the overall result of the process while preserving sensitive information. The producer must authorize the publication of the seals on the platform.
During the information collection stage, the partner must provide data related to the operation's compliance through a form. In addition to company information, documents that prove and validate the submitted information must be provided by the producer to enhance the level of compliance in the process.
The following documents are required at this stage:
Articles of Incorporation
CNPJ Card (Brazilian corporate tax ID)
Waste Disposal Declaration This can be an official declaration issued by a government website or an internal control document.
Cultivation License (for members or entity) One or more licenses (judicial measure) of the associates mentioned in the articles.
Environmental Registry Or Legal Reserve document Or property registration.
Anti-Corruption Policy (if applicable) Anti-corruption policy for members, in PDF format or public link.
Invoice for Seed Import or Photos of Clones If clones are used in the operation, send readable photos of the seedlings and storage space.
Description of Social Inclusion Processes Attach photos of events, links to social media posts, and other documents that prove this point.
The KYC stage is automated, consulting public databases to validate the registration of the operation’s partners.
It is important to note that these documents are not mandatory, but the more quality information provided, the better the certification score.
Producers who wish to certify the compliance of their cultivation must register on the Kanna platform and follow the instructions provided via email for information submission.
The process aims to recognize producers who adopt sustainable, socially, and environmentally responsible practices in their cannabis cultivation. The certification not only promotes reliability and transparency to Kanna community members but also enhances the reputation and competitiveness of producers in the broader market.
The process is essentially carried out in two stages:
This stage evaluates relevant information related to the producer’s Governance and Regulation. The classification at this stage determines which of the following seals can be obtained:
Learning Cultivation Label
Transparent Cultivation Label
This stage evaluates relevant information related to the operation’s consumption, soil management, and other factors that help determine the overall operation score. The classification at this stage determines which of the following seals can be obtained:
Responsible Cultivation Label
Sustainable Cultivation Label
Regenerative Cultivation Label
To become a Kanna partner, the first step is to register through the form below and become a mapped cultivation within the Kanna ecosystem.
After registration, wait for the first interactions from community members on the mapped partners page. Within about 3 business days, you will receive an email with instructions for the next steps and document submission.
This stage is crucial for the Community to validate that the company has no restrictions reported by members. If no issues are reported concerning the partner, the process will proceed as usual.
